Gay Marriage

What is marriage? Is it the religious joining of a man and a woman? Or can it be a woman and a woman or a man and a man? At that point does it have to be a religious bonding? One could argue that that is what makes marriage different then a regular partnership. I would be fine with you saying that, but then are atheists not allowed to get married? Lots of questions from the 16 boy. Legally atheists are allowed to get married even though it is quite clearly against the common religions.

Well here is how I feel...oh did I mention that I am in no way homosexual?


Marriage is the promise between two people that their lives are to be entwined and that you will do everything in your power to make sure that your partner is safe and happy. I do not feel like it has to be a religious bonding though admittedly if you are a religious person this bond will be marked with some sort of religious event. I think that gay people can be just as religious as straight people and who are we as human beings to strip them of their right to join in a religious manner? Do we have the right to condemn them for being different? I really don't think so at all. If a gay couple wants to marry more power to them equal rights I say.

My biggest qualm with all of this is that I don't think that people should be allowed to marry wherever they want. That is to say that if I were gay with my friend MexiMelt then I don't think the Catholic Church down the street should be forced to marry us. I think that we should be allowed to be married but that no place of worship should be forced to marry a gay couple if it is against their faith.
